My Portland getaway!

Last month I made a quick lil trip to Portland to see my family and to attending my friend, Aubrey's bridal shower.  Im a bridesmaid in her wedding, and I feel bad that Ill be missing the majority of her pre-wedding celebrations, so I had to make it a point to make it to at least of her parties.

I arrived in Portland friday night and got picked up by my friend Janet and spent the night at her place.  The next morning, we met up with our other friend Lauren for pedicures and some lunch.  It was pretty funny at the nail place because the women still remembered me, and I haven't lived in Portland for about 3 years, lol.  When I used to lived in Oregon, Janet and I would get pedicures together once a month, I miss doing things like that with my girlfriends.

After lunch, Janet and I did some shopping, which I was VERY happy about because it was TAX FREE!!!!! I never realized how great it was to shop tax free until now, I was a very happy girl :)

I then spent the rest of my day with my family, yay! I was only able to see 3 out of my 4 sisters and only a small fraction of my nieces and nephews, but at least I got to see some of them :)

Later that I night, I met back up with Janet and our friend Ashley and had a fun filled night out hanging out at the "Gypsy" and listening to terrible karaoke :)

Sunday was bridal shower day! I was very excited to meet up with my other group of friends and catch up! Aubrey's bridal shower was in Portland at her lil sisters house, Kelsey, and she did such a GREAT job hosting the party.  Seriously, every lil detail was perfect!

I didnt take pictures of the entire set up, but this is just a lil portion of it.  Aubrey's theme is a rustic country look with green & purple and its so cute!

It was so great to be back in Oregon with my family and friends, i definitely needed this to recharge.  No matter how much I love living here in California, Oregon will always have my heart, because my people are there.  But I am looking forward to my birthday this month because some friends from Oregon will be here to celebrate with me, YAY!

What a weekend!

Im doing my weekend update post a day late because I was too busy have fun in the sun! :)  Can I just say that I LOVE living in California?  I feel like there is so much to do and not enough time for all of it! This weekend definitely kicked off a fun and adventure filled summer!

My company had a walk-a-thon fundraiser this weekend, so Jon and I joined in on the fun! It was a 5 mile walk in Morgan Hill on a trail right off the 101, and it was a lot of fun.  We decided to bring Miley along, and she was so cute :)  But she did do a not so cute thing on the way there.... She was riding in the front seat with me and decided to poop on the seat. Good thing she is little and her poops are tiny, but it was pretty funny.  Jon LOVES his car and Miley definitely disrespected his baby! lol  It was fun seeing my co-workers out of the office and im glad that Jon got the chance to meet my boss and co-workers.

Miley did her best, but she couldn't walk the whole 5 miles, so she was carried some of the time, more of a work out for me!

After the walk-a-thon, we dropped Miley off at home, and we headed out for mimosas and some brunch.  Theres a "Bills Cafe" down the street from our place and they  have the best mimosas, I love going there, and they also have good breakfast, lol.

Later on saturday night we headed to the beach to meet up with some friends for a bonfire.  This was my 1st time doing something like this and it was really fun.... Until the cops showed up, they weren't very happy that one of the guys was setting off fireworks, so they shut our fun down :( Ol well, I'm sure well be going to many more of these! :)

Sunday was a bright and sunny day, so we headed to Campbell for some mexican food and margaritas, such a great way to end a fun weekend!

We also tried michelada's for the 1st time and they were pretty darn good! Jon wasn't really a fan, but i really liked it! Its like a bloody mary but with beer, and the rim has chili powder. 

And thats a wrap for our weekend! This coming weekend is going to be even more fun! We are heading to San Francisco for the Chipotle Cultivate Festival I am so excited for it! We will be spending the whole day out there and staying in a hotel by the bay, I cannot wait!

Dear Mr. Burns, I love you! And I am very excited to spend a sunny weekend with you! Thank you for being such a sweet husband to me.  Its been so much fun watching my home videos from my childhood, even though I'm not in them as much as you'd like, you get to see me and my childhood in a whole new light! Its pretty funny and embarrassing at the same time!

Dear Miley, I hope your ready to get the workout of your life tomorrow, because you'll be walking a 5K with daddy and I!  I just hope I don't have to end up carrying you to the finish line :) You'll be looking super cute no matter what though!

Dear Walk-a-thon, I am pretty excited that Jon and I are participating in your event for my office.  Such a fun way to spend a Saturday morning AND raise some money for our clients in need! Double win!

Dear Sirius radio, You completely made my morning! Not long ago, I discovered the best station EVER on you, Pop 2K, which only plays music from 2000-2010, which completely makes my drives to and from work pretty fun and exciting.  But this morning, as I'm cruising on the freeway the "Thong Song" by Sisqo came on, OMG! Dance party and memories in my car! That song definitely put a smile on my face this morning, Thank you!

Dear 30th birthday, OMG, you are only 21 short days away! I cannot believe that I will no longer be in my 20's in a few weeks, sad!!! But I am super excited for my birthday celebration and feel so lucky that I have friends from Oregon coming down to help celebrate with me! Just remember, 30 is just a number because I'm never going to grow up! Like Avril Lavigne says "HERES TO NEVER GROWING UP!"

Dear Husband, Your reaction last night after the mini earthquake we had was priceless.  You were so cute running around, googling it, and talking about it over and over again.  I couldn't help but just laugh :)

Dear Miley, You are just too sweet and cute! How did I get so lucky to have such a sweet lil doggie like you?!

Dear Meagan, I got my goodies yesterday!!! I loved them! Thank you so much! You are so sweet and am so happy to have been connected with you!

Dear Meat, We have been broken up now for about a month and it feel SO good! But I have to admit, I was very tempted yesterday at dinner, watching Jon enjoy those carnitas tacos at the taqueria made me a little jealous.  But I will continue to be strong and stay away from you, thank you!

Dear Mom, I'm sad that I cant spend Mothers day with you this year, BUT ill  be seeing you next weekend and will have presents! I cannot wait!

Dear Home ownership, I cannot wait to be in your club! Ive been dreaming about this for a long time now.  I hope our talking with the lender brings us good news and that our meeting with the real estate agent on Sunday will be even better!

Day 10, Friday: Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill.

In 2008, Jon took me back to his hometown of Pendleton, Oregon.  We were headed there for the towns big rodeo, the Pendleton Round up.  I was really excited because this was my 1st time going to a rodeo, and also because this would be my 1st time visiting the town and meeting his extended family.  The 1st day we went to the rodeo, I, being the city girl, decided to wear a dress and flip flops.  Our 1st stop was the porter potties.  After using one of the stalls, I come out and stand there, in the middle of everyone waiting for Jon to come out.  As I'm standing there, I see this lady walking straight towards me, and she DID NOT look friendly, so I was a little worried, like is she going to try and pick a fight with me??? As she gets closer, she leans in and whispers in my ear “Your dress is caught in the back” and walked away.  I stood there for a second, trying to figure out what she meant by that, and then it hit me! The tie on the back of my dress was caught in my underwear and I had been standing there with my butt out for everyone to see! I was SOOO embarrassed!!! Jon finally comes out, and I just grab him and walked away as fast as I could, laughing.  I could not believe it! Jon was so confused, so once we were a safe distance from everyone that saw my butt, I told him about it.  I still laugh about that, and now I always make sure my dress is completely down, as it should be, before I walk out of the rest room.

I took this picture last week.  It was a beutiful day out, so Jon and I went on a bike ride to the park for a picnic.  I love moments like this with my husband, I love that we are not only husband and wife, but we are friends... best friends.
