Our Wedding Anniversary Getaway

Hello!!! Blog world! Lets see how long I'll stick around for before I disappear again! lol

Jon and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary back in July and we had a little getaway to the beach in California, my happy place!

Jon and I had not been a trip, just the 2 of us, since out honeymoon, so we were really looking forward to this trip.

We jetted off to Newport beach Wednesday night after work, its def nice being just a short flight away from the beach :)

Enjoying some drinks before our flight
Thursday was our actual anniversary.  So we started out the day by walking to breakfast, and then spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying the beach, we walked ALOT, but when your walking on the beach, I feel like you could just keep going and going, lol.

When we got back to our room, we started getting ready for dinner, but we had a big problem! The dress I had packed with me to wear for our special night out DID NOT look good.  I was so upset that I would have to wear a boring old dress that Ive worn thousands of times BUT I've got a pretty awesome husband.  We hoped on an Uber ride to the nearest boutique, and we found me a new dress.  Thank goodness!

We headed to dinner at "Las Brisas" in Laguna Beach.  The place was great, they had yummy drinks and food, and an even better view.

Having drinks, waiting for our table
Our dinner view, with a pink sunset and everything :)
Celebrating 3 yrs with this man
Friday was of course another beach day, duh! lol Awesome thing about our hotel?  It was right across the street from the beach, yay! So friday we decided to rent bikes and go on a bike ride.
Before our bike ride, we had breakfast and I enjoyed a mimosa flight :)
Our cute bikes :)
Riding with my lovie
After bike riding, we took an Uber over to Huntington beach for some lunch and hanging out.  I love Huntington beach!
We had some adult snow cones :) And did little bit of shopping
After that, we headed back to Newport and got ready for our sunset cruise.  Jon found a super cheap groupon for a sunset cruise, with unlimited drinks, um yes please!!!  The cruise was so much fun! I want to go back and do it again!
Cruising adventures!
This makes my heart happy

Sunset loving!
Saturday was another groupon day! We went out to breakfast and then headed to do some wine tasting.  We had such a fun time wine tasting.  The person serving us was such a sweet woman, she def made the experience much more entertaining :)
Jon and I found this cute lil breakfast spot in Newport.
Wine & cheese makes me happy too!
You can't celebrate you wedding anniversary without doing some wine tasting, since we had our wedding at a vineyard
After wine tasting, we decided to spend our last night hanging out at the Newport boardwalk.

When Sunday rolled around, it was time to go home, boo!  Im okay with living in the desert if i get treated to beach weekend getaways like this.  But one day, I hope we can move back, buy a little house, just the 2 of us, retire and live happily every after! :)

Oh and now its gift time!

I made & bought Jon's gifts.  I love crafting gifts and buying personalized gifts, not only is it more personal but its not expensive either, so its a win win!

Since Jon travels so much, I though this was a fun lil something for him to carry with him in his wallet to remind him how much he's loved by me
I also made Jon a "Passport" of some fun things we can do here in Phoenix.  We've been here a year, but haven't really done much around here, so this is a fun thing to get us out there.
The back of the passport
The inside of the card
I also got him a leather luggage tag.

Jon got me a super cute charm to add to my special charm bracelet.  I love it!

The end :)

Exciting news!!!!

I mention a few weeks ago, that Jon and I have some big and exciting things coming up and now it’s time for the big reveal!

Jon and I became homeowners on 4/4/2014!!!!

We moved in 2 weekends ago, and returned our rental house keys last Tuesday.   Jon and I still cannot believe that we are now homeowners!
It’s funny how life works.  Back in November, I was looking at Zillow, dreaming of what kind of house we could one day purchase, when I came across a house down the street from us and it was perfect! It met all of our requirements.  I showed it to Jon and we talked about how cool it would be if we could buy a house like that.  And that was it, we didn’t do anything else regarding the house, we just went back to our everyday routine.

In January, Jon met a guy named Nick that is friends with one of our friends in Oregon.  Nick mentioned to Jon that he was a real estate agent.  Jon talked to me about mentioning the house that we found to Nick and potentially looking at it. I just laughed and said, yea right, that house has already been sold, since it’s been months since we 1st found it online. Turns out I was wrong! The house was still on the market, so we decided to check it out.

We checked the house out and we loved it. But nick thought it would be a good idea for us to also look at other houses in the area that we may also like, because who puts an offer on the very 1st house the look at?  He wanted us to be sure about our decision.

So Jon and I leave on a trip, and while we are on our trip we also take care of the money portion of buying a house and getting pre-approved.  When we got back from our trip, we spoke with Nick and told him that we were ready to put our offer in.  Guess what?  There was already an offer on the house, and it was higher than what we wanted to spend on the house.  And the offer has been accepted! How heartbreaking?? L  So we were pretty disappointed, and I just kept telling myself that God has a better plan for us regarding our 1st home.  So we started looking at other houses, but none of them compared to the original house.  Jon and I felt that the other houses were nice, but that we were compromising what we really wanted JUST to be homeowners.

In the middle of February, Jon called me and said that he couldn’t stop thinking about THE house, and asked if I thought it would be a good idea if he just called Nick and asked for a follow up on the house, and see if the original buyer had gone through with purchasing the house.  We waited a few hours, and then Jon got a call back from Nick.  Nick then proceeds to tell Jon that the original buying has JUST backed out of the deal and the house would be put back on the market!!! How amazing???!!!!

Jon and I spoke with Nick, and decided to put in our offer for the house the very next day.  We did not want to lose out on our dream house again! So we did the whole back and forth thing with the sellers on the price, and finally got our offer accepted! It was such a crazy, stressful and lllooonnnggg process, but it has all been worth it, because now we have a home that is all ours! We still feel like we are dreaming!

We have a long list of projects/updates we would like to make to the house, but for now we are just over the moon about the fact that we actually own this home and can redo it to fit us and our lifestyle.
So our home is 5 bedrooms / 3 ½ bath with a large basement.  Jon can finally have the man cave he has always wanted!  I know it’s a lot of house for just the 2 of us, since we don’t even have kids, but we have my little sister living with us and when we do finally have kids, we have plenty of room to grow.

Here is a little peak of the house, I’ll be back tomorrow with pictures of the inside!

Returning to my lil corner!

I know I keep disappearing from this little space of mine, my heart just wasnt in it for some time, think I needed a little break to adjust to life in Arizona and all the new things that have been going on in our lives.  I really miss blogging, I love looking back at my blog and seeing all the fun things that Jon and I have done together, which I know I would of forgotten about, if it wasn’t for this wonderful space of mine.  I'm going to try to keep up with my blog and get back to documenting the life adventures that Jon and I go on J

Life has been great, but it’s definitely been an adjustment. With Jon’s new position he travels A LOT! I feel like I rarely see him and Miley is starting to take ownership of his side of the bed, lol.  I love having my little sister here with me to keep me company, so I feel less lonely with him gone, but it’s definitely hard. Ever since Jon and I started dating, we have been together 24/7, the longest time apart was for a week and that would happen very rarely.  Now, he’s gone a majority of the month, either traveling to Oklahoma or to California. I’m pretty excited because Jon has been gone all week, and he got back home last night! Yay! And his boss is being awesome and is letting him stay home for an entire month before he has to head back on the road, I’m excited to have him home for so long!

Jon and I have some exciting few weeks ahead of us with some awesome new life developments, and I cannot wait until I can start blogging about that! But for now, I’ll leave you with some fun instagram photos of what life has been like the past 2 months!

Happy Friday!

Life updates!

I'm back!!!   I know I’ve been gone from the blog world for quite some time, but I’ve needed some time to adjust to my new life in Arizona, find a job, and just get an everyday routine down.

Life is starting to feel back to normal, and I am very happy with our decision to move here.  Jon and I actually love it here, I do miss the beach VERY much, but other than that, Arizona is great :)  So in order to get my lil blog caught up with my life, below is a list with some life updates.

Last time I posted, I mentioned my sister being sick.  The doctors have confirmed that she does NOT have breast cancer, but she is sick.  They are still not sure what is going on with her, she has had about 4 different surgeries, but she is out of the hospital and back home.

I also mentioned on my last post that I had quit my job, which was a great decision.  I now have a new job that is much better.  I no longer have a fancy HR title or work in HR.  But my new job is great, and its only 2miles from our place, which is a HUGE plus! My new work environment is much better and everyone I work with is really nice.  A few weeks ago, we had our holiday party at my bosses’ house and it was a blast.  We had an ugly sweater party, and the person with the ugliest sweater won a gift card.  Jon and I didn’t win, but Jon had a great time meeting everyone.  He even made new friends J

Jon’s parents flew out to see us in November,  and we had a great time exploring Phoenix together.  We spent 2 day exploring the Grand Canyon, which was awesome.  Jon and I had never been there, and it was so beautiful.  Jon and I want to plan a special weekend getaway out there and explore some more sometime in the future.   One night I made a yummy homemade enchilada dinner for all of us, and another night, we went to Rustlers Roost for dinner, and that place was a blast! They have a slide to go down on to get down into the restaurant (They also have steps that lead down to the restaurant, BUT the slide is much more fun!) and the place is on a hill, so it has the most amazing view of Phoenix.  Then after dinner, they bring you cotton candy for dessert.  How cool is that? J

Jon’s friend Rob also came to visit for a weekend.  They had fun doing their boy things like watching sports and shooting guns.  This is Jon’s new favorite hobby…

We have made some new friends out here.  For Duck games, we would head into Scottsdale, where the Duck bar is.  So we met 2 different couples, and have hung out with them since, yay to new friends

In November, we headed to Tuscan, with a bus full of duck fans to watch the ducks play….. It was a fun time, BUT we lost the game, which wasn’t so much fun.  But it was a fun experience, and we got to hang out with a bunch of Duck fans, which is what matters in the end.

Jon and I had another successful thanksgiving this year; even though I did mess up on my mashed potatoes… you wonder how could anyone mess THAT up?? You can! Lol.  They were still good, just a little runny!

We had a very quiet Christmas this year, we had a great time just relaxing and spending time together.

My little sister will be making a big move tomorrow.  She is coming down and living with us! I am so excited for this! I will have someone to keep me company when Jon is away, no more scary sleepless nights.  I'm excited for my lil sister and this next adventure she is about to embark on.

My new year’s resolution is to get back to blogging.  I miss it, and I love being able to document all of the life adventure that Jon and I go on J

Hope everyone had a wonderful new years eve! Cheers to 2014!!!

Also, feel free to follow me on instagram, wendyburns, where you can always find me posting pictures of our life away! J J
