Mothers Day Weekend

What a great Mothers Day weekend! Its been so nice to have my mom here with my little sister and I.

Our mom arrived Saturday evening.  So before she arrived, my little sister and I decorated and got the place nice and cute :)

Crafting for my mamma!

The mothers day banner I made :)
Michelle and I made cards for our mom.  Jon was SO sweet, he got a card for my mom and wrote her a note entirely in Spanish! He totally made Michelle and I look bad because we both wrote in her card in English, lol.
After we picked her up from the airport.  We were so excited to have her here with us finally!
Once we got home, we gave her a quick tour of our new home, and then headed out to dinner for some Mexican food & margaritas! Yum!
Us ladies outside Arriba!
Sunday, on actual mothers day, I wanted to make breakfast for our mom, BUT she couldn't just sit back and watch me cook, so she jumped in and took over! lol

After breakfast, we headed out the door to show our mom around Arizona!  We headed up to South Mountain to show her some Arizona views.

The sun was shinning bright and the wind was blowing so much! It almost blew me over, good thing Michelle was there to catch me!!

My lovie and I
After South Mountain, we headed to the Mexican market to get some refreshing agua fresca, Jon's newest obsession, but can you blame him? Agua fresca is the best!
The market had a Mariachi band playing in celebration of Mothers Day.  Our mom was happy :)
Jon enjoying his watermelon ague fresca
After our adventurous day, we relaxed at home and watched some old home videos before we headed out to dinner to celebrate our mom some more!  We headed to Oreganos, an italian place, it was our 1st time there and we were very impressed!
Outside, waiting for our table.  Michelle decided to revert back to being moms baby, lol.
Chich being silly, while waiting for our dinner.
The hubs and I.  He makes my heart happy!
Michelle and Jon like being a little weird with their food, sooooo they decided to experiment with the pizza and pasta: Pastapizza!

And that was our Mothers Day weekend with our mom.  We had such a great weekend with her and I am even more excited that we get to have her here with us until Saturday!  She's been showing me some of her recipes and I hope someday, I am as good of a cook as her!

Family Weekend

What a weekend!!!! We had Jon's brother, Joe,  come in from Oregon to visiting.

Joe arrived Thursday evening, and since we had to work the next day, we kept it low key and just went out for some happy hour and margaritas.  There is place down the street from our place that has $1 margaritas, so we often end up there for happy hour.  How can you say no to $1 margaritas?!!! lol
The boys double fisting their margaritas!
Friday, we had to watch the playoffs.  The Portland Blazers are doing really well, so we can not miss any of their games! Anyway, we went to our local bar we love hanging out at, Tukees.  We had some dinner and drinks, and then just ended the night back at home.
The Burns boys and the Vidrio girls.  Even though I'm a Burns now too, lol.
Saturday, we had a quiet morning with breakfast and mimosas.  Joe had never had a mimosa before, so i made SURE we had them! lol

We then spent our afternoon in downtown Chandler.  We checked out some shops & bars in the area.
The boys at Murphys Law, Irish pub.  The had a huge selection of beers to choose from.  We sampled the white chocolate beer, which actually tasted like white chocolate, not sure how I feel about that.  And we also tried a blueberry vanilla beer, which I didn't like, but the boys did.
Sunday, we a nice day, so we decided to have a little pool party and have our friends Curtis and Lindsay over.  It was such a fun day, spending time out at the pool and bbqing.  Im excite for all of the future pool parties we will be having in our backyard!
Mason jar drinks for our pool party
The gang.  Such a fun time!
Of course Miley was sunbathing with the girls!
I had to work on Monday, but Jon had the day off, and he and Joe spend the day checking out more areas in Phoenix, and they also did some shopping.  But I did come home on my lunch, to the boys doing this:
I love how Joe is on vacation and cleaning our pool while Jon is relaxing in the pool, lol.
We headed out to sushi before we had to drop Joe off at the airport.  He already has plans to come back, hopefully for Jon's 30th birthday!

Im so excited for all of the fun times ahead, with out of town guests!

Life updates!

I'm back!!!   I know I’ve been gone from the blog world for quite some time, but I’ve needed some time to adjust to my new life in Arizona, find a job, and just get an everyday routine down.

Life is starting to feel back to normal, and I am very happy with our decision to move here.  Jon and I actually love it here, I do miss the beach VERY much, but other than that, Arizona is great :)  So in order to get my lil blog caught up with my life, below is a list with some life updates.

Last time I posted, I mentioned my sister being sick.  The doctors have confirmed that she does NOT have breast cancer, but she is sick.  They are still not sure what is going on with her, she has had about 4 different surgeries, but she is out of the hospital and back home.

I also mentioned on my last post that I had quit my job, which was a great decision.  I now have a new job that is much better.  I no longer have a fancy HR title or work in HR.  But my new job is great, and its only 2miles from our place, which is a HUGE plus! My new work environment is much better and everyone I work with is really nice.  A few weeks ago, we had our holiday party at my bosses’ house and it was a blast.  We had an ugly sweater party, and the person with the ugliest sweater won a gift card.  Jon and I didn’t win, but Jon had a great time meeting everyone.  He even made new friends J

Jon’s parents flew out to see us in November,  and we had a great time exploring Phoenix together.  We spent 2 day exploring the Grand Canyon, which was awesome.  Jon and I had never been there, and it was so beautiful.  Jon and I want to plan a special weekend getaway out there and explore some more sometime in the future.   One night I made a yummy homemade enchilada dinner for all of us, and another night, we went to Rustlers Roost for dinner, and that place was a blast! They have a slide to go down on to get down into the restaurant (They also have steps that lead down to the restaurant, BUT the slide is much more fun!) and the place is on a hill, so it has the most amazing view of Phoenix.  Then after dinner, they bring you cotton candy for dessert.  How cool is that? J

Jon’s friend Rob also came to visit for a weekend.  They had fun doing their boy things like watching sports and shooting guns.  This is Jon’s new favorite hobby…

We have made some new friends out here.  For Duck games, we would head into Scottsdale, where the Duck bar is.  So we met 2 different couples, and have hung out with them since, yay to new friends

In November, we headed to Tuscan, with a bus full of duck fans to watch the ducks play….. It was a fun time, BUT we lost the game, which wasn’t so much fun.  But it was a fun experience, and we got to hang out with a bunch of Duck fans, which is what matters in the end.

Jon and I had another successful thanksgiving this year; even though I did mess up on my mashed potatoes… you wonder how could anyone mess THAT up?? You can! Lol.  They were still good, just a little runny!

We had a very quiet Christmas this year, we had a great time just relaxing and spending time together.

My little sister will be making a big move tomorrow.  She is coming down and living with us! I am so excited for this! I will have someone to keep me company when Jon is away, no more scary sleepless nights.  I'm excited for my lil sister and this next adventure she is about to embark on.

My new year’s resolution is to get back to blogging.  I miss it, and I love being able to document all of the life adventure that Jon and I go on J

Hope everyone had a wonderful new years eve! Cheers to 2014!!!

Also, feel free to follow me on instagram, wendyburns, where you can always find me posting pictures of our life away! J J

My 30th Birthday Celebration!

So, im 30 now, sad :( lol..... Anyway, I have an amazing husband and some amazing friends that flew down from Oregon to help me celebrate such a special day, lucky me! :)

Thursday night, my friends Courtney, Koli & Kyle arrived from Portland.  Mr. Burns tried to surprise me when I got home, but as I always do, I ruined it, lol.  I was still surprised though, he and Courtney had decorated the apartment with cute Hello Kitty decorations and balloons! Its funny because he tried to act like he wasn't home, but when I got home, I ended up parking right next to him, SO the ruined surprise is not all of my fault! :)

After Koli and Kyle arrived, we hung out at home and then walked over to BJ's for some dinner and drinks.
Koli & Courtney! Yay friends!!!
Friday morning was my birthday, YAY! I woke up to mimosas and presents, what a better way to start your 30th birthday??!!

Koli got me my new awesome wine glass, loves it! My friends know me too well! :)
Courtney got me this! How awesome is it? Again, my friends know me too well!
After presents and breakfast, we loaded up  my car and headed to the beach! My birthday weekend was a complete surprise, btw.  I only knew that we would be heading to the beach.  Jon and my friends did all of the planning, and they did AWESOME!
Headed to the beach with my faves!
Once got the beach, checked into out hotel and then loaded our cooler with drinks and hit the beach for some fun in the sun!
Mr. Burns & Kyle
The chicas!
My lovie and I!
The gang minus Jon.
Too much fun in the sun!
So we found this new vodka called Loopy and it seriously tastes like fruit loops! We had too much fun with it my birthday weekend :)

Lupe getting loopy @ the beach!
After spending most of our day out at the beach, we walked back to our room to relax, have some tacos and Kyle entertained us with his magic trick skills, it was a fun time.  Then we all took a cab to my next surprise, dinner! We headed to the crows nest, which is my favorite place to go in Santa Cruz.  Their food is yummy and their mimosas are too!
All dressed up for dinner!

We are pretty gangster!
The dudes repping their Oregon Ducks!
Fun cab ride to dinner!
After dinner, the restaurant turned into a bar, and they had a band playing, and they sang happy birthday to me, and I pretended to know how to play the guitar.

Having some fun
Being silly Wendy, can you spot me? lol
The next day, we were up bright and early for surprise #2! They had booked a brunch sailing trip with unlimited mimosas and it was SO much fun.  I loved it!  I had never done it before, and it was a great experience.  I already told Jon that I want to go again! :)

My attempt of taking a picture of the whole gang
We saw lots of lil sea otter friends, they were so cute!
My amazing husband!
The awesome server! She was seriously balancing so well on the sail boat while the rest of us were holding on for dear life! loll
A whole gang of sea otter, we thought they were logs at fist!
The awesome birthday gang!
We also saw some seals!
After our sailing adventure, we headed to the boardwalk to hang out and have some lunch.

After Santa Cruz, we headed back to our place and just relaxed! It was a long fun filled weekend! Sunday, everyone headed back to Portland, boo!!! But Jon also finally gave me my birthday gift....
Its a little blurry, but I love it!! He did such an awesome job! He picked out all of the charms himself, good job Mr. Burns!
So thats my birthday weekend! I had such a great time.  It was definitely such an awesome way to start my 30's! Cheers to all of the adventure the future holds for me! I cannot wait to see whats ahead.....
