Thanksgiving 2014

Thanksgiving 2014 was such a great holiday for us! We got to not only spend it with our little Arizona family, but we also got to see our good friends, Chris & Ainara, who flew into Tucson from Seattle, to visit Chris's parents.

Well start off with Thanksgiving day.  We decided to take it easy, we slept in and just hung out at around the house, until I got started on dinner.  I love cooking, especially for family & friends.  What was on our Thanksgiving dinner menu?  Turkey, Mashed potatoes & gravy, bacon wrapped asparagus, mac & cheese, and green bean casserole. It was my 1st time making the bacon wrapped asparagus & green bean casserole, and they both turned out great, thank goodness! lol.  I was also very happy that I was able to find 90% of our dinner ingredients at Trader Joe's :P

Here are some pics from Thanksgiving:
Our new formal dinning room.  We feel like such grown ups now, lol
I was very excited about our new placemats and dinner plates

We had some champagne and brie while our the turkey was cooking
All set and ready for dinner!!!

After dinner & clean up, we all headed outside for a little bonfire

Friday evening, Jon and I made our way to Tucson to spend the weekend with Chris & Ainara and Chris's parents.   We stayed with them until Sunday afternoon.  Friday, we all just hung out at their house, enjoyed some pizza and drinks.  Saturday, the boys headed to the golf course, and us girls went out to do some shopping and lunch & drinks.

When we all got back to the Sherwoods house, the boys hung out in the pool.  Then we all got ready for the evening festivities, FOOTBALL!!! Our college teams were playing their rivals, 1st up, with our Oregon Ducks & Oregon Beavers, of course, the ducks dominated and did a great job :)  Then it was time for the Washington State Cougars & Washington Huskies (boo)…. The cougs did not do so well, and got beat by the Huskies, but it was still a great night and a fun night of football.
Ainara and I, we captioned this photo "Bisco Wives" since our husbands work together :)

The view from the backyard, so pretty :)
The whole gang watching football.  Chris's dad is in the 3rd seat, and his mom is next to Jon.  The other couple are good friends with Chris's parents.
Go Cougs & Go Ducks!
We had such a great holiday weekend, it was great to catch up with our friends.  And Tucson is not a bad place, I love how cute it is :)

Our Wedding Anniversary Getaway

Hello!!! Blog world! Lets see how long I'll stick around for before I disappear again! lol

Jon and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary back in July and we had a little getaway to the beach in California, my happy place!

Jon and I had not been a trip, just the 2 of us, since out honeymoon, so we were really looking forward to this trip.

We jetted off to Newport beach Wednesday night after work, its def nice being just a short flight away from the beach :)

Enjoying some drinks before our flight
Thursday was our actual anniversary.  So we started out the day by walking to breakfast, and then spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying the beach, we walked ALOT, but when your walking on the beach, I feel like you could just keep going and going, lol.

When we got back to our room, we started getting ready for dinner, but we had a big problem! The dress I had packed with me to wear for our special night out DID NOT look good.  I was so upset that I would have to wear a boring old dress that Ive worn thousands of times BUT I've got a pretty awesome husband.  We hoped on an Uber ride to the nearest boutique, and we found me a new dress.  Thank goodness!

We headed to dinner at "Las Brisas" in Laguna Beach.  The place was great, they had yummy drinks and food, and an even better view.

Having drinks, waiting for our table
Our dinner view, with a pink sunset and everything :)
Celebrating 3 yrs with this man
Friday was of course another beach day, duh! lol Awesome thing about our hotel?  It was right across the street from the beach, yay! So friday we decided to rent bikes and go on a bike ride.
Before our bike ride, we had breakfast and I enjoyed a mimosa flight :)
Our cute bikes :)
Riding with my lovie
After bike riding, we took an Uber over to Huntington beach for some lunch and hanging out.  I love Huntington beach!
We had some adult snow cones :) And did little bit of shopping
After that, we headed back to Newport and got ready for our sunset cruise.  Jon found a super cheap groupon for a sunset cruise, with unlimited drinks, um yes please!!!  The cruise was so much fun! I want to go back and do it again!
Cruising adventures!
This makes my heart happy

Sunset loving!
Saturday was another groupon day! We went out to breakfast and then headed to do some wine tasting.  We had such a fun time wine tasting.  The person serving us was such a sweet woman, she def made the experience much more entertaining :)
Jon and I found this cute lil breakfast spot in Newport.
Wine & cheese makes me happy too!
You can't celebrate you wedding anniversary without doing some wine tasting, since we had our wedding at a vineyard
After wine tasting, we decided to spend our last night hanging out at the Newport boardwalk.

When Sunday rolled around, it was time to go home, boo!  Im okay with living in the desert if i get treated to beach weekend getaways like this.  But one day, I hope we can move back, buy a little house, just the 2 of us, retire and live happily every after! :)

Oh and now its gift time!

I made & bought Jon's gifts.  I love crafting gifts and buying personalized gifts, not only is it more personal but its not expensive either, so its a win win!

Since Jon travels so much, I though this was a fun lil something for him to carry with him in his wallet to remind him how much he's loved by me
I also made Jon a "Passport" of some fun things we can do here in Phoenix.  We've been here a year, but haven't really done much around here, so this is a fun thing to get us out there.
The back of the passport
The inside of the card
I also got him a leather luggage tag.

Jon got me a super cute charm to add to my special charm bracelet.  I love it!

The end :)

Goodbyes & Pool parties!!!

I'm sad that it’s Monday, that my mom is back in Oregon, and that my lovie had to leave at 3:00am this morning to catch his flight to Alabama, which will be his home for the next week.  I always have such a hard time having him gone; I’m still adjusting to this new life.  I'm so thankful that my little sister lives with us, because I don’t know how I would survive being alone all the time!

But we had such a great weekend, so that makes everything a little better!

Friday was our last day with our mom, so Michelle and I both worked half the day, and then spent the rest of the day with our mamma!  We took her to In-N-Out for lunch, because she need her burger fix, and then we headed to the zoo.  We didn’t walk around the zoo, because it was about 104’ out, and our mom is not a fan of the heat, so we just went into the gift shop so our mom could get some souvenirs.

Mom and I at the Zoo entrance
After the zoo, I decided to take our mom to Dos Gringos for some drinks.  I think this was our 1st time at a bar with our mom.  We hung out there for a while, and Jon came to join us after her got off work.  We had such a fun time!
Photobomb!
Happiness with my mamma and siser!
My lovie and I!
We spent the rest of our evening at home, relaxing, mom made mole for dinner, and then we FINALLY watched Frozen.  I’vebeen wanting to watch that movie for so long!

Saturday, we had to be up bright and early to take our mom to the airport, sad day :(  It was so nice to have our mom here with us for a week, and her home cooking wasn’t too bad either, lol.  Now let’s just hope I can pull off some of her yummy recipes on my own!

After that airport drop off, we headed to the hardware store to get some PINK paint so I can FINALLY start getting my “Dressing Room” together, YAY! I can’t wait to post a before / after picture of my room!

Jon and I had such a productive morning, we got the paint, checked out Planet Fitness near our house and got our gym membership, ran to his office, checked out a mall by our house, and had a nice little lunch date :)

It was such a hot sunny day, that when we got home, we decided to have a little pool party.  We had our music playing, nice cold drinks, and played some pool games, it was so much fun.
Miley was not happy with me because I made her get into the pool! Poor doggy!
Later that night, we decided to walk to the bar near our place for some dinner, and ended up staying there for quite some time because they had a band playing, and Jon loves his live music!

Yesterday, we had a very low key day.  Michelle and I spent most of the day watching movies and Jon spent his day watching sports.  The joys of having a basement! Now we are all happy, watching TV in our own spaces :)

I hope this week goes by fast and I am able to get some rest, even though I’ll be missing my lovie!  I'm excited for Memorial Day weekend; hopefully we can have another pool party!

Happy Monday!!!!
