She has arrived!

My little sister arrived this weekend! Yay!

Friday night Jon and I went out to dinner, and then we headed to the bar down the street from our place, we planned on only staying there for 1 drink, BUT ended staying for a little longer, because they had a live band and Jon was really enjoying the music.
Saturday was the big day my little sister arrived.  I finished getting her room put together and then we headed to the airport to pick her up :)

Im a little jealous of her room, lol, but she still has to share some of her space with  my craft supplies.

We got to the airport a little early, so Jon went inside to wait for her and take a picture of her arriving.
She didn't even notice Jon taking a picture of her, lol.  She was on the phone with my mom, my little sister is growing up, how cute! lol

Once we took her home and showed her around her new home, we went out for some lunch.
Then we headed out to Tempe to meet up with our Oregon friends and introduce her to them.

After that, we spent the rest of our night at home, watching sports.
Michelle sporting the Oregon Ducks helmet.
Jon in his helmet watching the Eagles game.
Sunday, we all rode our bikes to the park nearby, then Jon and Chicha played some basketball.

Our Sunday ended with some more football.  Go Niners!

Life updates!

I'm back!!!   I know I’ve been gone from the blog world for quite some time, but I’ve needed some time to adjust to my new life in Arizona, find a job, and just get an everyday routine down.

Life is starting to feel back to normal, and I am very happy with our decision to move here.  Jon and I actually love it here, I do miss the beach VERY much, but other than that, Arizona is great :)  So in order to get my lil blog caught up with my life, below is a list with some life updates.

Last time I posted, I mentioned my sister being sick.  The doctors have confirmed that she does NOT have breast cancer, but she is sick.  They are still not sure what is going on with her, she has had about 4 different surgeries, but she is out of the hospital and back home.

I also mentioned on my last post that I had quit my job, which was a great decision.  I now have a new job that is much better.  I no longer have a fancy HR title or work in HR.  But my new job is great, and its only 2miles from our place, which is a HUGE plus! My new work environment is much better and everyone I work with is really nice.  A few weeks ago, we had our holiday party at my bosses’ house and it was a blast.  We had an ugly sweater party, and the person with the ugliest sweater won a gift card.  Jon and I didn’t win, but Jon had a great time meeting everyone.  He even made new friends J

Jon’s parents flew out to see us in November,  and we had a great time exploring Phoenix together.  We spent 2 day exploring the Grand Canyon, which was awesome.  Jon and I had never been there, and it was so beautiful.  Jon and I want to plan a special weekend getaway out there and explore some more sometime in the future.   One night I made a yummy homemade enchilada dinner for all of us, and another night, we went to Rustlers Roost for dinner, and that place was a blast! They have a slide to go down on to get down into the restaurant (They also have steps that lead down to the restaurant, BUT the slide is much more fun!) and the place is on a hill, so it has the most amazing view of Phoenix.  Then after dinner, they bring you cotton candy for dessert.  How cool is that? J

Jon’s friend Rob also came to visit for a weekend.  They had fun doing their boy things like watching sports and shooting guns.  This is Jon’s new favorite hobby…

We have made some new friends out here.  For Duck games, we would head into Scottsdale, where the Duck bar is.  So we met 2 different couples, and have hung out with them since, yay to new friends

In November, we headed to Tuscan, with a bus full of duck fans to watch the ducks play….. It was a fun time, BUT we lost the game, which wasn’t so much fun.  But it was a fun experience, and we got to hang out with a bunch of Duck fans, which is what matters in the end.

Jon and I had another successful thanksgiving this year; even though I did mess up on my mashed potatoes… you wonder how could anyone mess THAT up?? You can! Lol.  They were still good, just a little runny!

We had a very quiet Christmas this year, we had a great time just relaxing and spending time together.

My little sister will be making a big move tomorrow.  She is coming down and living with us! I am so excited for this! I will have someone to keep me company when Jon is away, no more scary sleepless nights.  I'm excited for my lil sister and this next adventure she is about to embark on.

My new year’s resolution is to get back to blogging.  I miss it, and I love being able to document all of the life adventure that Jon and I go on J

Hope everyone had a wonderful new years eve! Cheers to 2014!!!

Also, feel free to follow me on instagram, wendyburns, where you can always find me posting pictures of our life away! J J

Weekend update

Well I survived my 1st week at my new job! Yay! By friday afternoon, my brian hurt! lol.

Happy Wendy on Friday morning!
I became official at work with my new name plate :)
Friday night, Jon and I headed out to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner.  We love that place! Then spent the rest of the night hanging out at home.
Oh Mr. Burns, he cracks me up :) FYI, he slammed his finger in the bathroom door, so now he has an yucky nail that will probably fall off :(
We stopped by a bar near our place before heading home for some drinks :)
Our Saturday of course revolved around college football! We headed to Scottsdale to watch the game at Dos Gringos.  We ended up sitting at a table with another couple and ended up hanging out the rest of the night.  They are both from Oregon, so that was fun, and then while we were sitting there, one of our friends from back home ended up walking into the bar! lol, it was so random! So we hung out with him and his coworkers also.  So it was a very fun filled day!

Such a beautiful sunset saturday night!
Sunday morning, we headed to the sports bar near our place to watch the Eagles game.
Mimosas and football!
Then came home and Jon got ready for his trip, sad face! And then I drove him to the airport, sadder face! He's in California for work until Wednesday, and then his bff Rob comes into town on Friday night.  So we are pretty excited for our very 1st Oregon visitor in our new home :)

Hopefully these next few days go by quickly, I hate being home alone with out my lovie!   Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a super week!

Today is a BIG day!

This is a very special blog post for a very special lil sister, who is not so little anymore :(

My little sister, Michelle, turns 21 today, and I am so sad that I cannot be there to celebrate such a special day with her.  Michelle, or Chicha as she is referred to in our family, is 9 years younger than me.

She has a great way of making me feel like an old lady, but at the same time, has not problem stealing me clothes, which means that I am still kind of cool, right??!!!

Meeting my lil sister and best friend for the 1st time.
Me, Chicha and our niece Ellie on Michelle's 18th birthday.
Us on my special day
This picture cracks me up! This was a few years ago, we were all hanging out at our older sisters house, and Michelle had left to run an errand.  Well, she was gone for a VERY long time, so we decided to pull a prank on her and our niece.  SO Jon and our brother in law climbed up onto the roof with a hugh bucket of water.  We planned on dumping the bucket on our niece Ellie, but she was smart and stopped at the door step, as you can see above, but Michelle just walked right out, so she was the lucky receiver of the bucket of water.  I love that I caught the action with my camera!
Michelle has visited me in all of the different states i've lived in.  Well, Ive only lived in 2 states, other than Oregon, BUT she's been to both! :)
Us when she came to visit me in Seattle for a weekend.
Us at the beach in Santa Cruz.  We always have a great time together :)
I love the relationship she and Jon have also.  They definitely act like brother and sister :)  He's the big brother she never had and she's the little sister he never had!
Whenever we are together, we always cook something yummy up in the kitchen!
I am very proud of you chicha, and everything that you have accomplished in your young 21 years.  I cannot even imagine all of the other amazing things your will accomplish in your lifetime! I love how big of a heart you have and how you are following your dreams  to work with people with special needs.  I love that you look up to me, because my whole life, I tried to be the best example I could be for you, because I only want whats best for you.  We have had some pretty hard times in our family, but all of it has made us stronger women.  I am proud to call you my lil sister and best friend.  I miss you SO much and I hope you have a great day today celebrating such a special day!

Love you forever lil sis! Come visit me soon so we can celebrate in the desert together!!!

Oh Monday! I passed your test!

So yesterday was a big day for me.  It was my 1st day at my new job and I was VERY excited about it!  Sunday night, Jon and I picked out my outfit and were all set for my big day.

Yesterday, I got up early got ready for work, and just hung out with Miley until it was time for me to head to work.  Just a nice quiet morning...... Until I get to my car, and it WOULDN'T start! Like the AC & the radio would turn on, but that was it! So I started to panic! I had about 45 mins before I had to be at work.  So I call Jon and told him that my car wouldn't start and I didnt' know what to do, since he was already at work.  He told me he was on his way, but to go ask our neighbor, Al, if he could help me get my car started.  Luckily, we have very sweet neighbors, and Al was getting ready to head out for golf, so he came over and checked my car out and said the battery was dead, boooo!!!!  So I rolled my car down the driveway, and he came over with his car and jumped my car.  After his jump, my car turned on, but Jon didn't want me to risk anything, so he picked me up and drove me to work.

By the time Jon picked me up, it was 7:30 and GPS said my office was only 22 mins away, so I wasn't too worried, until we hit the freeway.   It was like a freaking parking lot! So I'm back in panic mode! Thankfully, after some scary maneuvers from the husband, we made it over to the carpool lane, and were able to bypass most of the traffic.  And guess what???!!! I made it to work 5 min early!  I couldn't believe that my morning had started like that!

Thankfully, my boss wanted to take me out to lunch for my 1st day, or else I would of starved at work! lol.  After my very eventful morning, I spent the rest of my day training and learning about my position.  It looked a little like this:
This is my new cubical.  Ill post more pics once its cuteness level increases!
I have never worked in a HR team, its always just been me and my boss, but at this company we have a team of HR members, and Im really excited about that.  I met a few of them, and they all seem very nice.  So I'm pretty excited for whats to come! :)

Jon picked me up from work, and then we headed home, picked my car up and took it over to a car parts store and they checked my battery and they confirmed that my battery was bad, so we had to get me a new one.

Monday tried to ruin my day, but better luck next time! Team Burns can overcome anything! :) :)

Lets hope the rest of the week goes by smoothly!!!
