Since we've had Miley, we've been trying to figure out a good way to leave her at home without her:
1) Hating it
2) Getting into things she shouldn't
3) Going potty all over the place
4) Leaving her in her crate all day
So we have tried a few things:
1st - We would leave her in my bathroom with a potty pad, her crate, food/water and her toys. She hated this, and she wouldn't use her pad, she would just poop/pee all over the place and i just felt like she would eventually ruin our bathroom and stink it up.
2nd - Jon's friend, Mike, would come over and stay with her all day so she would be free to play throughout the house.
It’s been nice to have him come over and take her on walks and such, but i just feel like we need to have Miley get used to being home alone too. And it’s not like Mike is going to be able to watch her forever, i don’t think professional dog watcher is what he aspires to be :)
3rd - I decided that we should just leave her home alone, so she pretty much had the run of the house without anyone watching her.
BAD Idea, she then started to chew on our new couch and poop and pee upstairs in the hallway. I always dreaded coming home to find new surprises from her. And i felt, with us doing this with her, she would really ruin our place and definitely stink it up.
Soooo....Today Jon went to Target during his lunch and bought a kids playpen for her. It’s nice and big, we are able to fit all of her toys, bed, food\water and her pee pad in there with still room for her to walk around.
